Impact the Impacters

Date published

When Maria decided to work with entrepreneurs in their business journey, she knew she wanted to help purpose-driven teams to expand their impact in the world. Today, our mission at 360Rocks is to impact the impacters – by guiding leadership teams through crystalizing their vision and strategy, building a healthy and sustainable team culture, and developing their own business toolbox.

So who are the impacters?

Short answer: For-profit and non-profit organizations whose missions are to make a positive impact in the world and use business as a force for good.

Among many ways companies can pledge their commitment to doing good, becoming a certified B Corporation and a 1% For The Planet member are two ever-evolving ways that have gained traction over the years. Certified B Corps and companies that contribute to 1% For The Planet are all driving change for good in the business world, while still achieving their financial goals. They conduct business with strong core values, and stress the importance of the engagement of ALL stakeholders.

What is 1% For The Planet?

In 2002, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Matthews, an award-winning conservationist, started this movement to fund nonprofits focused on environmental causes – based on the idea that if a business is profiting off natural resources, they should give back to the environment. Now, 1% of every member’s revenue goes to nonprofit organizations flighting critical environmental issues around the globe.  With over 3,000 members, the 1% For The Planet movement is growing every year and creating an impressive community of impact-driven businesses with similar values and goals.

What is a B Corporation?

A certified B Corporation, or B Corp, is a company that meets the environmental and social standards put in place by B Lab to further a more sustainable and inclusive business model.  B Corps focus on the triple bottom line – profit, people, and the planet – emphasizing the idea that a successful business can still turn profit while being environmentally conscious and making decisions with all stakeholders in mind. A few well-known B Corps include Ben & Jerry’s, Athleta, New Belgium Brewing, and Allbirds. To learn more about this incredible movement, check out their website: About B Corps.

As strong believers that entrepreneurs have the power to change the world, 360Rocks is a part of the 1% For The Planet community, and we’re on our way to becoming a certified B Corporation by early 2022.  In the meantime, we will continue to make a positive impact through our clients’ successes, and to lead with change with our local B Corp group in the Triangle, NC.
